Artists > Sheila Landi's Last Hurrah
'A Last
Hurrah'
After the exhibition, held to celebrate my 90 th birthday, which consisted of work from my student
days and the years before 1970, when I gave up painting to concentrate on my second career.
This small exhibition shows some of my work since retiring about four years ago. They
demonstrate
what I can do, rather than what I might want to do, as mobility and strength
have
weakened. It has not been easy to find a style of my own again after such a
long break
and having
to work on only a scale with which I can cope.
There are
two life drawings done in the Back Schools of the Royal Academy of Arts in 1952
compared
with some quick sketches recently done in the life class held in this Gallery.
Please enjoy
what you can, as sadly there won’t be any more.
