Gillian Durno October 2024

Gillian Durno's latest works on display from 30th September until 2nd November

The extensive rewilded grounds adjoining my studio in North Luffenham and the beautiful surrounding Rutland countryside, are a great source of inspiration for my work.

Restricting my palette in this exhibition to the warm, golden colours reflecting late Summer and early Autumn, I have attempted to capture the mood and feeling at this beautiful time of the year. Blonde grasses, vibrant yellow dandelions and the striking pink of willow herb and thistle flowers highlighted against the dark backdrop of trees and shrubs are a recurring theme.

After a prolonged period of time not painting it was important for me to concentrate on somewhere familiar to simplify the patterns, rhythms and colours of a well-loved landscape
